Photo of the Day: Dreaming Tree

"From the start, she knew she had it made easy up 'til then for sure she'd make the grade. Adorers came in hordes, to lay down in her wake. She gave it all she had, but treasures slowly fade. Now she's falling hard. She feels the fall of dark. How did this fall apart? She drinks to fill it up. A smile of sweetest flowers, wilted so and soured. Black tears stain the cheeks, that once were so admired. She thinks when she was small, there on her father's knee. How he had promised her, "You'll always be my baby" "Daddy come quick. The dreaming tree has died, I can't find my way home. There is no place to hide. The dreaming tree has died." Dave Matthews Band "Dreaming Tree"

This past summer I went fishing at a little reservoir in Berlin, MA. Its a beautiful little place called Gates Pond. My Husband and I spent the entire day walking around the outskirts of this pond. Along our way we stopped off a hidden little path where I shot this picture of what I like to call my dreaming tree. We had been fishing along the pond all day with no luck at all. (I had just about given up and began snapping photos) As I snapped this picture I was startled by my husband yelling "Becky, COME QUICK!" As I ran to see what Jim was yelling about I looked to the ground and saw the largest Bass I have ever seen caught. So as I was off dreaming about catching a large fish to make this day complete the tree made it happen. Or so I believe. So today not only do I have one photo of the day but I think to go along with the story of the day I have to include the photo of the fish too. ENJOY!

Photo of the Day: Footprints

"... During your times of suffering, when you could see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you." (Author: Anonymous)

As a young kid I loved the poem "Footprints in the Sand," by an anonymous author. So this summer when I was down enjoying the Outer Banks in North Carolina with my parents for their 25th Anniversary, I just had to snap an image of the beautiful sand and footprints to perfectly remind me of the poem. This image was taken in the evening in early August as I was on a walk with my sister collecting shells. I love the lighting and how perfectly shaped each footprint came out. It was just fate that the wave graced just the top of the image to draw attention to her feet walking away. Its one of my favorites. So this is the photo of today! Enjoy.

I am really impressed with this group on facebook. They really do high quality work. I love looking through their photo albums they have some great ideas. I think I may put together a booklet of my photos through them. We shall see. :) http://www.facebook.com/mypublisher

Lake Chocoura photo of the day!

This past July, my husband and I went camping in the White Mountains. While we were up there we took the kayaks for a dip in Lake Chocorua. An already beautiful place, the day made capturing it that much more beautiful. I love this photo simply because of the imperfections in it. While it was planned I love how the composition of it turned out. It pleasantly surprised me with the tilt of the mountain and the opposite direction of the tree line. Followed in turn by the lily pads doing their own vibrantly green thing.

Scrolling through my photos this evening I came across this wondering how it looked today with all the beautiful fall foliage. ::sigh:: I need to take a trip up to the mountains to do some photography soon. So at last this is my photo of the day!
