Photo of the Day: Bahhhhh

Hello All,

Hope everyone is staying warm! What a crazy week we have had. A blizzard that knocked out my power for 4 days straight. I hope everyone has theirs back now too!

Today's photo of the day come from a hike me and my family took from my grandparents house to Great Brooke Farm in Carlisle, MA. While I was wolfing down some delish' ice cream made by the cows of the farm, I was greeted by this beautiful sheep who just was waiting to have his photo taken. It was late afternoon and the sun was just right that the shot came out better than I had planned. Thank you nature for being so helpful! Please enjoy! Let me know what you think?!

Photo of the Day: Punkin

Today's Photo of the day was taken at the Red Apple Farm. I love the lighting of this photo. The curly tendrils coming off the stem that had been previously cut from the vine is so pretty. Thinking back I wish I had bought this pumpkin ... so cute. :)

Happy Fall Folks and happy Sunday Funday!

Photo of the Day: Gourds

I love the individuality of gourds. Like people gourds come in all shapes and sizes, which is what makes the world wonderfully perfect!

This picture was taken this past weekend at the Red Apple Farm ... Love that place. All should take a trip there, especially with kids.

Photo of the Day: Punkins

Hello and happy Columbus Day! I hope everyone had a great weekend! This Saturday my husband and I went to the Red Apple Farm in Tempelton MA. What a wonderful place. There are pumpkin patches, apple orchards, hay rides and food cooked on an outdoor fire pit. What could be better than that? We spent most of the day in search of a pumpkin we unfortunately came home empty handed because we just couldn't decide on one but I did get to snap this lovely fall photo that I look forward to framing and hanging on my wall for years to come during the fall months. :) Enjoy and tell me your thoughts.

Photo of the Day: Seagull

Happy middle of the week! 3 day weekend ahead! Hopefully everyone has some great plans. The weather in Massachusetts is going to be absolutely unseasonably beautiful. So I hope to get out and take loads of picture to share with you soon! I have been behind on a couple of my photos of the day so I am sitting down tonight to get one out for you. Thanks for looking!

Photo Story: This September we celebrated our first wedding anniversary. In celebration we went to one of our favorite little getaways, located in Portsmouth, NH. We went for a weekend getaway and Saturday afternoon was such a beautiful day we had to get out and walk around. We strolled through Strawberry Banks and came to  the ocean. We were overlooking people setting up their boats along the boat slips. I looked directly across from me and this seagull was just waiting for me to capture him. He looked so stoic perched on the top of the boat slip with an old sail boat behind him. Thankfully, just as I snapped this image he turned his head as if to accept the photo. I love it and the colors. The sky looks as if to be painted behind him. So at last here is the photo of the day! Please take a look.

Photo of the Day: Tree Sky

One day in late May or early June it was a beautifully warm day in Leominster, MA. It was a Saturday and Jim and I were looking for something to do. We decided to go out on a search for Rocky Pond. It was mentioned to my husband by a family friend. He thought that he could find some great fish in this hidden pond. We knew the trail to take and that it was "2 miles" from the entrance of the trail. So we set out on the search for Rocky Pond.

Well, long story short we found this pond. The only problem was there really wasn't any easy access to it from where we were ... So after losing two fishing lures in the weeds and being chased around by hornets we decided to leave. It was however, a beautiful location on such a beautiful day. While we were returning from the pond I looked up and had to snap the photo of these lovely trees with the contrast of the beautiful blue and white sky. The only sadness in this photo is some of the tips of these trees have been destroyed by the ice storm that hit Leominster and surrounding towns a few years back. But it still makes for a beautiful image. So here it is, my photo of the day.

Morning Photography Lesson

Want to learn something about photography this morning? I woke up this morning and discovered the timeline of the history of photography. One thing I also learned today was that the word "photography" came from the greek words photos which means "light," and graphein which means "to draw."Pretty interesting. Below is a snippet from the National Geographic website that gives you a timeline and images of the history of photography. You should take a look by clicking on the link ... Very interesting. Enjoy!

1826: First Permanent Image: French inventor Joseph Nicéphore Niépce uses a camera obscura to burn a permanent image of the countryside at his Le Gras, France, estate onto a chemical-coated pewter plate. He names his technique "heliography," meaning "sun drawing." The black-and-white exposure takes eight hours and fades significantly, but an image is still visible on the plate today. As talked about in a previous photo of the day, this past summer my family and I went down to North Carolina to spend time on the Outer Banks in celebration of my parents 25th Anniversary. What an awesome time. My husband, brother and father would spend every morning and evening doing what they do best, Fishing the ocean. They had so much fun and all looked so relaxed. The fish were also very yummy!

This photo of the day was snapped of my little brother (who hates getting pictures taken) even though he isn't looking at the camera it captures the joy he is experiencing as the waves crash against his legs and as he anticipates the bite of the fish. I love the slight reflection in the water just before the wave coming towards it blurs it out. I also like how the focal point (my brother) is not in the center of the photo exposing the next wave showing the never ending energy the ocean possesses. Take a look. Have a good night all!

Beautiful Photo Art

Everyone has to check out this link. Absolutely beautiful photo paintings. I would love to learn how to do this. It looks so beautiful and dreamy. I love it.  http://www.corinnevionnet.com/site/entry.php?o=1

The Future of Photography

Happy Saturday everyone. My Saturday appears to be gloomy and rainy. ::BLAH:: I guess this means no beautiful fall pictures at the farm or the winery today. What to do on this rainy weekend? I started off this morning reading articles about photography and where it has been and where it is now. Pretty interesting take a look if you'd like: http://www.psfk.com/2011/07/what-is-the-future-of-photography.html

One thought I had when reading this article was that photography like artwork has and always has been reactive commentary on the world from past, present and future. Images from the past and now reflect all of these and they will continue to do so.

Have a great weekend! Stay dry.

Photo of the Day: Dreaming Tree

"From the start, she knew she had it made easy up 'til then for sure she'd make the grade. Adorers came in hordes, to lay down in her wake. She gave it all she had, but treasures slowly fade. Now she's falling hard. She feels the fall of dark. How did this fall apart? She drinks to fill it up. A smile of sweetest flowers, wilted so and soured. Black tears stain the cheeks, that once were so admired. She thinks when she was small, there on her father's knee. How he had promised her, "You'll always be my baby" "Daddy come quick. The dreaming tree has died, I can't find my way home. There is no place to hide. The dreaming tree has died." Dave Matthews Band "Dreaming Tree"

This past summer I went fishing at a little reservoir in Berlin, MA. Its a beautiful little place called Gates Pond. My Husband and I spent the entire day walking around the outskirts of this pond. Along our way we stopped off a hidden little path where I shot this picture of what I like to call my dreaming tree. We had been fishing along the pond all day with no luck at all. (I had just about given up and began snapping photos) As I snapped this picture I was startled by my husband yelling "Becky, COME QUICK!" As I ran to see what Jim was yelling about I looked to the ground and saw the largest Bass I have ever seen caught. So as I was off dreaming about catching a large fish to make this day complete the tree made it happen. Or so I believe. So today not only do I have one photo of the day but I think to go along with the story of the day I have to include the photo of the fish too. ENJOY!

Photo of the Day: Footprints

"... During your times of suffering, when you could see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you." (Author: Anonymous)

As a young kid I loved the poem "Footprints in the Sand," by an anonymous author. So this summer when I was down enjoying the Outer Banks in North Carolina with my parents for their 25th Anniversary, I just had to snap an image of the beautiful sand and footprints to perfectly remind me of the poem. This image was taken in the evening in early August as I was on a walk with my sister collecting shells. I love the lighting and how perfectly shaped each footprint came out. It was just fate that the wave graced just the top of the image to draw attention to her feet walking away. Its one of my favorites. So this is the photo of today! Enjoy.

I am really impressed with this group on facebook. They really do high quality work. I love looking through their photo albums they have some great ideas. I think I may put together a booklet of my photos through them. We shall see. :) http://www.facebook.com/mypublisher

Lake Chocoura photo of the day!

This past July, my husband and I went camping in the White Mountains. While we were up there we took the kayaks for a dip in Lake Chocorua. An already beautiful place, the day made capturing it that much more beautiful. I love this photo simply because of the imperfections in it. While it was planned I love how the composition of it turned out. It pleasantly surprised me with the tilt of the mountain and the opposite direction of the tree line. Followed in turn by the lily pads doing their own vibrantly green thing.

Scrolling through my photos this evening I came across this wondering how it looked today with all the beautiful fall foliage. ::sigh:: I need to take a trip up to the mountains to do some photography soon. So at last this is my photo of the day!
